Guidelines for data use at Baruch College:
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that aims to keep student educational records private and accessible only by the student or their designee. This FERPA guideline is designed to ensure compliance with FERPA when using educational records for research purposes and sets forth the procedures to be followed.
Data Use Agreement
Data Use/Transfer Agreements are contracts that generally facilitate the transfer of data for faculty to use in scholarly activities. Baruch College personnel with responsibility for using student-level data files must read and sign the Data Use Agreement before the Office of Institutional Research will grant access to the information. Data users should also be aware of and comply with CUNY Central’s Institutional Research Office Data agreement.
