Baruch College Places #2 in QuantNet Ranking of Masters in Financial Engineering Programs

MFE BadgeNEW YORK, NY October 6, 2015 Baruch College has tied for #2 in QuantNet’s ranking of master’s of financial engineering programs throughout the United States and Canada. Baruch has continued to improve in QuantNet’s biannual evaluation, having ranked #4 in 2013 and #5 in 2011.

QuantNet’s top programs for 2015 are:

2. Baruch College
2. Columbia University (MFE)
2. UC Berkeley
5. NYU
5. Princeton University
7. Columbia University (Math Fin)
8. Cornell University
9. MIT
9. University of Chicago
9. University of Toronto

QuantNet also ranked the programs by “Best Employment Outcomes,” and Baruch tied for #3 with Carnegie Mellon and Columbia’s MFE program, behind Princeton and UC Berkeley.

Dr. Dan Stefanica, co-director of the MFE program, said “Nearly half of QuantNet’s ranking model is based on the success of graduates in the job market and 2014 and 2013 were all-time highs for our graduates.” He also cited consistently strong finishes in national contests, most recently at the annual International Association of Financial Engineers (IAFE) competition, where Baruch took top honors.

In addition to employment outcomes, QuantNet’s methodology also considers peer-program assessments, selectivity, and a survey of employers. QuantNet describes itself as “the world's largest online resource and community for applicants and professionals in the field of financial engineering, quantitative finance, big data analysis.”

Baruch’s MFE program is part of the Mathematics Department in the Weissman School of Arts & Sciences.
