The 30-minute Long-Term Planning session is a dedicated service where advisors and students collaborate to discuss various aspects of the student’s academic journey. This comprehensive session covers:

• Completion of your personalized Baruch Academic Planner
• Academic progress
• Course selection for upcoming semesters or years
• Strategies for success
• Discussion of challenges and roadblocks

The 30-Minute Long-Term appointments offer the time needed  for in-depth discussions and planning, surpassing the scope of shorter, routine advisement sessions.

We encourage students to schedule a Long-Term Planning session to ensure thorough exploration and planning of their academic goals and aspirations.

The 15-minute Quick Advising service is tailored for students seeking prompt assistance with general inquiries regarding degree requirements, academic policies, and other academic concerns. These may include:

• Discussing class withdrawal
• Declaring major/minor
• Reviewing your Degree Works Audit
• Referrals to resources and offices for further assistance and exploration

Please note that Quick Advising sessions are not intended for comprehensive long-term planning, which typically involves a 30-minute session. Long-term planning includes tasks such as completion of a Baruch Academic Planner and review of final degree requirements.

We encourage you to utilize Quick Advising for quick questions.

Note: During the beginning of the semester and the registration period, we will only offer quick-advising sessions.

The Baruch Academic Planner (formerly the “Academic Worksheet”) is designed to give a complete and detailed assessment of your academic progress. It allows a student to see what has been completed, what is currently in progress, and what is remaining after the current semester in progress. The academic planner can only be completed during a long-term planning session.

Students can receive the same advising services on a drop-in basis at the Baruch One Stop Shop. This means, no appointment is necessary. Drop-in is available in-person or virtually on Zoom.

Bearcat Peer Advisors (BPAs) assist students with using various academic tools, exploring majors/minors, resolving holds, understanding policies, completing forms/applications, exploring campus resources, and much more! Best of all, Peer Advisors are current Baruch students just like you!
