Hi there! My name is Patricia, and I’m currently a Sophomore at Baruch College within the Macaulay Honors Program. I’m studying Political Science and Psychology with hopes of one day becoming a lawyer. One of the reasons I decided to become a peer advisor was that I wanted to provide support and guidance to students who may be going through the same challenges I faced when I first started at Baruch. I know firsthand how daunting it can be to transition from high school to college, and I believe that having someone to go to can make all the difference. When I’m not busy with my school commitments, I love spending time outdoors. I enjoy hiking and camping in the mountains during the summer. There’s something about being in nature that helps me recharge and feel more focused when I come back to school. I also love traveling to new places and reading books on politics and law.

I’m a senior studying marketing management. I enjoy learning about consumer behavior and data-driven storytelling. I plan to strengthen these skills through my courses this semester. I would love to use these skills to work in the media and entertainment industry. I became a peer advisor to help guide students in understanding the requirements for their major, Baruch resources and navigating their academic success. One of my favorite summer activities is going to water parks.

Hello! My name is Stephanie, and I am a rising senior majoring in Finance. As a future graduate of the Class of 2025 and Summer 2024 Internal Audit Intern at Barclays, I’m very excited to progress within the finance world. I became a Peer Advisor because I have always been super involved on campus as I am a former SACC tutor and the President of Ascend, a business and social club on campus, and I wanted to find a way to really give back to the Baruch community. When I started college during COVID times, I found myself really wishing I had a support system and somewhere to go for all my questions, so I hope I can give that support to other Baruch students. My favorite summertime activity is going to the beach since I am from Long Island! Although I do enjoy going to museums with outdoor sections, especially the Met Cloisters.

I’m Jackson, a junior majoring in Accountancy. Because of this, I also want to pursue a career in Tax Accounting. I became a peer advisor to be able to get the opportunity to form new connections. One of my favorite activities is resting outside during a midsummer night—watching the fireflies sparkle like stars in the endless skies, letting the warm and comforting breeze envelop me and carry worries away to whence they came, and spending time with a cheerful family and friends, eating, and chatting about everything and nothing.

During the summer, I love hanging out with friends, grabbing food, and enjoying boba together. This role allows me to offer support while also developing key skills such as communication, problem-solving, and building meaningful relationships.

Hi! My name is Cassie and I’m a senior majoring in marketing. I’m from the Bronx and have lived here my whole life. During my last year of college, I had the pleasure of working in the Office of Undergraduate Advisement & Orientation as a Bearcat Peer Advisor. This role has helped me grow socially and professionally in a variety of ways. Advising students daily helped me prioritize patience and compassion in my conversations. Working with my fellow peer advisors strengthened my teamwork and communication skills. Additionally, this role allowed me to meet people from different walks of life, emphasizing the importance of being respectful and understanding people’s backgrounds and situations. I am extremely grateful for these valuable lessons I gained during my time as a Peer Advisor. The continuous support that I received from my supervisor Ashley and my fellow peer advisors is invaluable and I will always cherish the memories I made working in the office.

Working as a Peer Advisor for the last two years has allowed me to be part of a support system, I wish I had when I started college. Getting to help first-year and transfer students enroll for classes and being available as a resource for students to come to when they had questions, was a very satisfying role that I was lucky to have. Not only was my role as a Peer Advisor a very fulfilling one, but it also allowed me to develop my communication, team building, and organizational skills, which have helped me succeed in other jobs and extracurricular activities I have pursued. I also had the privilege of working with an amazing team and met some of my closest friends being part of the program.

My experience as a Peer Advisor has been profoundly enriching, offering me invaluable skills and forging lasting friendships. Although I completed my studies in May 2023, my journey didn’t end there; I found employment opportunities at Baruch that aligned with my passion for guiding others. Through being a BPA, I was also able to Serve as an orientation leader for transfer students and freshmen, I found deep fulfillment in assisting them on their educational paths and career goals. Through these roles and the knowledge that I’ve gained from working closely with office management staff, I honed patience, active listening, and interpersonal skills, which continue to serve me well today. Now, in my roles at the Starr Career Development Center and the Zicklin Undergraduate Programs Office, I apply these lessons daily, fostering success and growth within our Baruch community.
