    Reporting and Managing Covid-19 Cases

Baruch College and CUNY have protocols in place for students, faculty, and staff who have a positive Covid-19 test result or who have been in close contact with someone who tests positive for Covid-19. The protocols are detailed below.

    Student Protocols

If you have a positive result from an at-home, rapid-antigen, or PCR test
    1. Contact the Dean of Students at deanofstudents@baruch.cuny.edu so your case can be reviewed and contact tracing protocols determined.
    2. Stay home and isolate for 5 days from the date of the test result—even if you are vaccinated.
    3. The Dean of Students will contact your professors regarding your classes.
    4. The Dean of Students will conduct the contact tracing based on the up-to-date close-contact guidelines; do not contact your professor or classmates regarding your status.
    5. If you have no symptoms or if your symptoms are resolving after 5 days, you can leave your house and end your isolation period. In order to return to campus, you must receive a negative PCR or antigen test.
      • In lieu of a negative PCR test, you may present a letter from your health care provider that clears you to return to in-person classes. Submit your test result or clearance letter to deanofstudents@baruch.cuny.edu.
      • If your test result is positive, you should continue to isolate until day 10. Following day 10, you must receive a negative PCR or antigen test before returning to CUNY.
If you have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19
    • Contact deanofstudents@baruch.cuny.edu. You do not need to quarantine. Get tested at least 5 days after you last had close contact with someone with Covid-19 even if you don’t develop symptoms.
      • If you test positive, stay home and isolate per guidelines above.
      • If you develop symptoms, get a test, stay home and follow the isolation guidelines above.

    Faculty and Staff Protocols

If you have a positive result from an at-home, rapid-antigen, or PCR test
    1. Email CoronaVirusLiaison@baruch.cuny.edu. The Coronavirus Liaison (CCL) for faculty and staff will review your case and discuss contact tracing questions.
    2. Isolate for 5 days from the date of the test result—even if you are vaccinated.
    3. The CCL will contact anyone who needs to be advised due to possible exposure based on the most up-to-date close-contact guidelines.
    4. Additionally, Human Resources will advise your supervisor in the event you are unable to work remotely.
    5. If you have no symptoms or if your symptoms are resolving after 5 days, you can leave your house and end your isolation period. In order to return to campus, you must receive a negative PCR or antigen test; if negative, you can return to work.
      • In lieu of a negative PCR test, you may present a letter from your medical provider that clears you to return to work in person. Submit your test result or clearance letter to the CCL.
      • If your test result is positive, you should continue to isolate until day 10. Following day 10, you must receive a negative PCR or antigen test before returning to in-person work.
If you have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19
    • Contact the CCL.

    Sites for PCR Testing

If you are sick, tested positive, or have been in close contact with someone with Covid-19 and you need a PCR test, you may use either a CUNY testing site or a non-CUNY site to be tested. Diagnostic tests are available through NYC Covid-19 Express sites, the Covid-19 Test Site Finder, by calling 311, or visiting the NYC Health and Hospitals website. This is the only exception to the requirement to use a CUNY testing site for mandated testing.
