Requests for a grant to visit a funding agency to discuss a prospective grant application should be sent to Dean Gillian Small.   Faculty must lay out the money and then request reimbursement on a Research Foundation Travel Expense Voucher/Request for Payment.   For additional information or to discuss this program call Dean Gillian Small's office at 212-794-5417, email her at or visit

CUNY Academy for the Humanities and Sciences

Travel awards are offered to full-time, untenured assistant professors in the first two years of their appointments.   These awards are intended to advance their careers by enabling them to attend scholarly or professional meetings, which they otherwise could not attend.   It is not necessary to make a presentation at the proposed meeting.   For additional information contact the CUNY Academic at 212-817-7940.

CUNY Workforce Development Initiative (WDI)

The Office of Academic Affairs allocates WDI funds to campuses, if appropriated by the State to CUNY, to support a wide variety of initiatives that address the workforce development.   These may include:

•  Development of new or modified courses or certificates – credit or non-credit, undergraduate or post-BA – to meet the education and training needs of the City's workforce;

•  Strengthening the relationship between the University and employers through industry-sponsored programs and internships;

•  Innovation, expansion or improvement of curriculum, instruction, facilities or equipment to increase the college's ability to meet employers' needs;

•  Economic or labor market research projects that support the design or redesign of curricula that meet the needs of the New York City workforce.
