Robert (Rob) Kunicki is Director for New Student Programs, effective January 2022. Previously, he was Assistant Director for Student Success, Assessment, and Enrollment Initiatives in the Division of Enrollment Management & Strategic Academic Initiatives at Baruch College. Rob brings to his new role experience working in New Student Orientation, First-Year Seminar Peer Mentoring, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Pre-College Programs, Student Success Programs, and Assessment. He was also an adjunct instructor of Mathematics. As Director, Rob’s responsibilities include managing fiscal affairs; supervising and evaluating staff; executing Fall Student Convocation, Days of Welcome, and Family Orientation; selecting, training, and supervising instructors to lead First Year and Transfer Seminars (FYS 1000 & TRA 2000); collaborating with faculty on the selection of the First Year Text; as well as programming for and engaging new and transfer students in their transition to and success at the College. His additional responsibility includes outreach to and engagement of families. A first-generation college student, Rob holds a BSEd in Adolescence Education with a concentration in Mathematics and an MSEd in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from St. John’s University. He also holds a MA in Higher Education Administration from Stony Brook University and a Ph.D. in Urban Education from the CUNY Graduate Center. His scholarship focuses on college student retention, degree completion, and Latinos in higher education.

Michael Doris joined the Student Affairs team at Baruch College in March 2020 as an Assistant Director for New Student Programs (NSP). Prior, he worked at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), where he served as coordinator for New & First Year Student Programs. As part of his role in NSP, Michael will select, train, and supervise peer mentors to lead First Year and Transfer Seminars; lead sections of the First Year and Transfer Seminars; assist with the administration of timekeeping and payroll for peer mentors; create, plan, and execute new initiatives to assist students in their transition to and success in college; provide outreach and support to families; as well, he will assist with Fall Student Convocation, Days of Welcome, Family Orientation, and advisement of the transfer student organization. Michael earned his MA from New York University.

Cynthia Guan began her career within the Office of New Student & Family Programs (NSFP) as a Transfer Peer Mentor who pioneered the Transfer Student Network (TSN) program in Fall 2021. Since then, she has held the roles of Executive Transfer Peer Mentor and First Year Seminar (FYS) Peer Mentor. Cynthia graduated from Baruch College Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and minor in Law and Policy. At Baruch College’s 2023 Student Achievement Awards, Cynthia was the recipient of the Betty Schoenberger Memorial Award for being “a student who distinguishes himself or herself by providing help and support to fellow students.” Cynthia is currently pursuing her MA in Higher Education Administration and Student Affairs at New York University. Cynthia’s role in NSP includes being a First Year Seminar Instructor, serving as a point of contact for the office, assisting with new student transitions, planning and executing programs, creating and distributing materials to promote the services of NSP, and more
