Baruch College MBA Hailed by the Aspen Institute
Baruch College has demonstrated outstanding leadership in integrating social and environmental issues into its MBA program, according to the Aspen Institute’s 2009-2010 edition of Beyond Grey Pinstripes, a biennial survey and alternative ranking of business schools. Baruch’s full-time MBA program was ranked #65 on a list of Top 100 Business schools. Two years ago, Baruch was included in the list at #82.
“This ranking by the Aspen Institute affirms the Zicklin School’s position in the forefront of responsible, ethically-based business education,” said John Elliott, dean of Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business. “We strive to educate our students to embrace a holistic view of business success. As the corporate leaders of the 21st century, these young men and women will need to balance bottom-line considerations with the broader social and environmental needs of our complex society,” Elliott noted.
While many MBA rankings exist, Beyond Grey Pinstripes is the only one that looks beyond reputation and test scores to assess how well schools are preparing their students for the environmental, social and ethical complexities that confront today’s business leaders. Relevant data collected in the survey, as well as the entire “Global 100” list of business schools, is available at www.BeyondGreyPinstripes.org
“The best business students move quickly into the front ranks of business—and the attitudes and values they bring to the table are deeply influenced by their time in business education,” said Judith Samuelson, Executive Director of the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society Program. “The schools that are competitive in the Beyond Grey Pinstripes ranking are the real trailblazers—they assure that students have the right skills as well as the will to make things happen.”
School highlights from this edition of Beyond Grey Pinstripes are featured in a new guidebook for prospective MBA students, titled The Sustainable MBA, which is available from Amazon.com and through the Aspen Institute’s publication website.
The Aspen Institute’s Center for Business Education equips business leaders for the 21st century with the vision and knowledge to integrate corporate profitability and social value.
