Ecem Basak, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems in the Paul H. Chook Department of Information Systems and Statistics at Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business. She received her Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from University of Illinois at Chicago. Ecem’s research focuses on the impact of the sharing economy, online social networks, and Web3 technologies. She specializes in designing observational studies that determine the causal relationships between these technologies and their societal, economic, and environmental outcomes. Her academic training includes a variety of research methods, such as econometrics, causal inference, network analysis, data analytics, and machine learning. During her Ph.D., Ecem worked as a data science intern at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and CCC Intelligent Solutions. Ecem also holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Turkey.
