This book project features 3 heroic Asian contemporary artists: Sajitha Shankhar (born in Kottayam, Kerala, in South India in 1967), a Hindu woman calling out the oppression of women; Zhang Hongtu (born in Pingliang, Gansu Province, China in 1943), a Muslim artist who fled to the U.S. in 1982; and Zayasaikham Sambuu (born in 1975 in Baatsagaam, Mongolia), known as “Zaya,” a Buddhist artist who grew up under Communism in the Gobi Desert, near Mongolia’s southern border.Applied for grant: pending
