- Biography
Iziar De Miguel received a master’s degree (Master 1) in Applied Foreign Languages (Spanish) and a master’s degree (Master 2) in Translation (English-French-Spanish) from the École Supérieure d’Interprètes et de Traducteurs (ESIT), Sorbonne Nouvelle University – Paris III.
She cofounded a multilingual translation company and worked as a professional translator, proofreader and editor for museums, publishing houses and corporations for many years. She also holds a Ph.D. in French from CUNY’s Graduate Center. She has previously taught French, Spanish, Comparative Literature and Translation Studies.
Her research interests include translation studies, bilingual and multicultural writers. Additionally, her reserch in crime and Noir fiction covers transnational narratives exploring the themes of immigration, diversity and social justice in rural and urban settings. She is also interested in heritage language learners’ biliteracy development and identities.
