Lauren E. Aydinliyim is an Assistant Professor of Strategic Management at the Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College (CUNY). Her research explores the intersection of strategy, human capital, business ethics, and law, with a particular focus on non-compete agreements and employee mobility. At its core, Professor Aydinliyim's research is driven by a simple belief: people matter—the way firms attract, retain, and manage talent has profound implications for businesses, industries, and society as a whole.

Her research has been published or is forthcoming in leading journals, including the Journal of Management, Journal of Business Ethics, and Human Resource Management. She serves as an ad hoc reviewer for several top journals and conferences and is currently a guest editor for a special issue on “quiet quitting” at Human Resource Management. She is an associate editorial board member of the Entrepreneurship Research Journal and serves as the Resource Information Chair for two Strategic Management Society interest groups: Strategic Human Capital, and Knowledge & Innovation.

Professor Aydinliyim earned her PhD in Organization Management from Rutgers University–Newark, her JD and Law & Business Certificate from Vanderbilt University, and her BS summa cum laude in Applied Mathematics (Probability & Statistics concentration) and Economics from the College of William & Mary. She also spent a year at the London School of Economics studying Mathematical Economics.

Before entering academia, she worked as an in-house attorney, human resources executive, and software licensing consultant. In addition to her teaching and research, she serves as a Faculty Field Mentor at the Midtown Manhattan Small Business Development Center (SBDC), where she provides counseling to local small businesses.

Aydinliyim, L. E., Gough, M., & Roumpi, D.(n.d.). Beyond the Signature: the Impact of Post-Employment Restrictive Covenants on New Hires, Labor Market Entrants, & Historically Underrepresented Groups. In Progress.

This research investigates the impact of post-employment restrictive covenants (RCs) on new hires and labor market entrants, particularly women and members of historically underrepresented groups (HUGs). Notably, this is the first known effort to examine the effects of RCs on new hires, highlighting how these agreements shape employee attitudes even before job acceptance or commencement. While extant literature suggests that employee non-compete agreements (one type of RC) may disparately impact women, this project delves into the underlying “whys” and “hows” of this phenomenon, considering multiple HUGs, intersectional identities, and a suite of RCs through experiments with working adults and students.
