Meir Lubetski has focused his research on making the Bible, in its ancient context,  intelligible to scholars, students, and the more general public, alike. He has lectured and published extensively, both nationally and internationally, showing how new artifacts and inscriptions have an impact on how the Bible is read and understood. He has brought to bear his extensive knowledge of ancient Near Eastern culture as well as Rabbinic material to explain many difficult verses.

Excellent review of "New Inscriptions and Seals Relating to the Biblical World'2015This useful volume will be of interest to anyone studying archaeology and its relationship to the Bible, particularly the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament... Although the papers have specialists in mind, nonspecialists with strong background in ancient history, philology, or archaeology will benefit from the volume. It is hoped that many more such volumes will be produced in the future
Visions of Life in Biblical Times: Essays in Honor of Meir LubetskiEdited by Claire Gottlieb; Chaim Cohen; Mayer Gruber (Sheffield: Sheffield Academic Press)2015This is a festschrift in honor of Meir Lubetski, published by his colleagues in recognition of his significant contribution to biblical and ancient Near Eastern scholarship.
Outstanding Review of my publication, The Book of Esther: A Classified BibliographyReview of Biblical Literature2009Review: This attractive volume … should revolutionize studying about and teaching about the plot, characters, and setting of the book of Esther in both the Hebrew original and the other versions as well as the extensive literature that has been inspired by the book from antiquity to the present. … This reviewer urgently recommends that every college, seminary, university, and public library place this volume in its reference collection and that it be a standard entry in reading lists in courses in the study of women in Scripture. Mayer Gruber, Review of Biblical Literature, 2009.
Bibliography Award, Honorable MentionAssociation of Jewish Libraries2009Award for the publication of The Book of Esther: A Classified Bibliography, 2008.
Laudatory review of "New Seals and Inscriptions, Hebrew, Idumean and Cuneiform"2008There is little doubt that the various articles of this collection contribute to our understanding of the history of ancient Israel. The artifacts discussed in this volume provide a glimpse into the world of the Levant in the eighth century and onwards, a world populated with people who spoke Hebrew and who bore names similar to those mentioned in the Hebrew Bible.
