Here is the polished version of the text:
Born and raised in South Korea, I served in the military before coming to the United States to pursue my doctoral studies at the University of California, Berkeley. My academic focus was on International Relations, Comparative Political Economy, and East Asian Studies. I have conducted extensive research on financial crises and government responses to cope with them, with a particular emphasis on the cases of Japan, South Korea, and China. Currently, I teach courses on political economy, the rise of Asia in international affairs, and US-Asia relations.
