Suzanne Dell'Orto

Suzanne Dell’Orto (she/her) is a practicing artist, designer, curator, and educator. She earned her BFA from the School of Visual Arts, and her master’s degree in Studio Art from New York University’s Venice Program, and she exhibits her artwork nationally and internationally. As a designer, she works print and web-based media and has worked with large and small graphic design firms. Her design firm, Modomnoc, specializes in designing for artists, education, and non-profits. A Lecturer at Baruch College/CUNY, her concentration is in cross-cultural visual literacy, accessibility, professional practice development, creativity, and typography, and she is a proud member of the Professional Staff Congress-CUNY Union.

She has been exhibiting her artwork since 1995. Her first solo exhibition was at the Molloy College Art Gallery in 2004, where she also curated the show Stuck: The Influence of Collage on 21st Century Artists, which was reviewed in the New York Times, (April 9, 2006). She has exhibited at Galeria AAB, Brescia, Italy; Pioneer Gallery, New York, NY; Tree Gallery, New York, NY; Mobius, Boston, MA; New Media Artspace, New York, NY; Dryfoos Gallery at Kean University in Union, NJ; Hunter College Gallery, New York, NY; Gallery Aferro, Newark, NJ; Redsaw Gallery, Newark, NJ; and Tinku Gallery, Toronto, Canada.

Her design work has appeared in Layout Essentials: 100 Design Principles for Using Grids, and she was listed as one of 15 Notable Art Professors in New York City in 2019. She was selected as one of eight faculty fellows for the 2022 Open Education and Publishing Institute at the Graduate Center Digital Initiatives and the Teaching and Learning Center at the CUNY Graduate Center, New York, NY. She has also presented at Design Incubation, Hunter College, and the College Art Association’s National Conference, New York, NY.
