Dr. Yongfei Yi is a Doctoral Lecturer in Chinese and Japanese. Dr. Yi received her MA in East Asian Studies and Ph.D. in East Asian Languages and Literatures from The Ohio State University. She has been teaching Chinese, Japanese, and East Asian humanities since 2012. Her teaching interests include oral proficiency and innovation in teaching Chinese literacy. She has worked on designing and revising pedagogical materials and has considerable experience in curriculum development. Her essential pedagogical principle is to keep students motivated and help them to discover their inner passion. As a certified ACTFL OPI tester and rater, she is well-versed in the ACTFL proficiency guidelines and has extensive experience in implementing the guidelines in both classroom teaching and program assessment. Her research interests include second language acquisition, postwar East Asian literature, and Sino-Japanese comparative literature and cultural studies. Dr. Yi believes firmly in the value to all members of the community of teaching foreign languages and cultures and would like to share her knowledge and experience with her students.
