Work with the Jewish Community

Martin Begun was deeply involved with the Jewish community in New York City. He served as president of the Jewish Community Relations Council as well as the president of the New York Metropolitan Council of the American Jewish Council. He was also a member of the Board of Govenors of Tel Aviv University and a trustee of its Sackler School of Medicine. He had close ties to Israel and hosted the newly elected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his first major address to a general American audience. He used his influence in political circles to promote measures against anti-Semitism.
